Membership in and affiliation with the College Democrats at New York University and all rights and responsibilities associated with such a status shall not be contingent on a person’s actual or perceived: age, citizenship status, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, language preference, marital or parental status, national origin, physical appearance, political affiliation, race, religion or faith, religious affiliation, religious practice, sex, sexual orientation, source of income, veteran or military status, any other characteristic protected under federal or New York state law, or any combination of these factors or related factors.
College Democrats does not tolerate harassment or discrimination in any form. Harassment and discrimination include but are not limited to: offensive verbal or written comments related to, or exclusion based on, any of the characteristics listed above (i.e. sex, race, gender, ect.); deliberate intimidation; following or stalking; unwanted photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; unwelcome sexual attention; and patronizing language or action.
Anyone in violation of this policy may be warned, expelled from the event, and/or banned from future College Democrats activities, at the sole discretion of College Democrats Executive Board.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns related to harassment or discrimination, please contact a member of the Executive Board immediately. Additionally, you can contact Michael DeLuca, College Democrats President, at email@example.com. To the largest extent possible, reports of harassment will be kept confidential; usually, this means the reports will only be shared with the College Democrats Executive Board members who are not involved in the incident and are directly dealing with non-discrimination enforcement, or with law enforcement/venue security should their presence become necessary.
The College Democrats Executive Board will be happy to help members contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment or discrimination to feel safe for the duration of the event, and will actively seek to resolve any violation of this policy in a timely manner with notification by a member.
